Zeca Assumpcao and Lelo Nazario – Depois Do Silencio

Elations Recordings presents “Depois do Silêncio”, an intimate and forward-looking recording by Brazilian avant-garde jazz pioneers Zeca Assumpção and Lelo Nazario. Nearly fifty years into their collaboration, from Hermeto Pascoal’s Grupo Vice Versa to the experimental Grupo Um, the duo continues their dialogue of acoustic and electronic interplay.

Recorded in 1994 at Nazario’s UTOPIA Studio, the album pairs Assumpção’s expressive acoustic bass with Nazario’s Ensoniq TS-12, later expanded with new synthesis in 2018 and 2022.

Inspired by Aldous Huxley’s reflection on silence and expression, the work merges composition and improvisation into a living, evolving organism of sound.
