Fade Evare – Welcome Back

$55.00 Inc GST

Local artist

Naarm/Melbourne outfit Fade Evare have released their debut studio full-length, Welcome Back, via Astral People Recordings.

With production inspired by British post-punk acts such as The Durutti Column and Orange Juice, ‘As the Eagle Flies’ typefies Welcome Back’s emotional register of yearning vocals and hazy production – a musical cloudscape carried by low-slung guitar riffs and billowy, oscillating pad chords. As the final single to be lifted from their debut offering, the choice is a purposeful and meaningful full-circle moment for the group.

Centred around the brother-sister partnership of Mira Holleman and Tori Holleman (Retiree), Fade Evare rests on the push and pull of the siblings’ respective musical journeys, with Mira’s starry-eyed youthfulness playing off of Tori’s quietly assured and tasteful production. Rounded out by keyboardist Madeleine Magee Carr, their debut LP is suffused with lush, layered electronic soundscapes, celebrating the bonds within the communities we build.

Collecting previously released singles ‘Yamaha Dreaming’, ‘Keep Talking’, ‘Send Me Out’, ‘Sky Writing’ and ‘Anymore’, Welcome Back finds Fade Evare weaving together elements of trip-hop, pop and dance music across its 12 tracks. Recalling the likes of Massive Attack and The xx, the music at different points channels both melancholy and euphoria. Each song rhythmically pulsates, perfect for a post-club debrief, and soundtracking the embers of a night that’ll live on long in your core group’s memories. As Mira explains, the record arrives at an equilibrium which is simultaneously “very much looking inward, but also being appreciative of the people around you”.
