Even – that’s the trio of Ash Naylor, Wally Kempton and Matt Cotter – are somewhat of an Australian indie-rock insitution these days. 25+ years of dutiful service fulfilled, and thus we present Down The Shops, a magnificent covers album. And like Bowie’s Pin-Ups, Down The Shops is a great representation of the band’s roots on power-pop, garage, punk and the indie-rock realms of sound, featuring some ace covers of tunes made (in)famous by the likes of BLONDIE, MASTERS APPRENTICES, SEX PISTOLS, STEMS, POSIES, YARDBIRDS, MC5, HOODOO GURUS, KINKS and even some band called THE MEANIES. A-grade interpretations – not mere retreads, thank you – of some genuine classics for your pleasure.
