Boggle – Boggle

Boggle are a Melbourne three-piece made up of Anna, Rosie and Toby, the instrumentation being baritone sax, drums and guitar/electronics. It’s perhaps a lazy description, but their music could be compared to bands like Party Dozen and Morphine, although I think their unique approach marks them as something different to these acts. It’s instrumental, not just repetitive motifs and nor is it ‘improv’: they are fully articulated songs with a beginning, end and a trajectory between. Boggle are fantastic avant-rock, highly recommended to the bands mentioned above, as well as lovers of infectious, adventurous post-punk a la the Contortions, Bush Tetras, Pop Group, etc.
