Tarcutta – Rain In Space

$50.00 Inc GST

Local artist

Tarcutta is Peter Barrett (drums), Justin Buckley (guitar, Wurlitzer), and Justin Wheelahan (Model A Hammond organ driven through Leslie 122 valve and 910 transistor rotating speakers, and a valve Hammond PR40 stationary speaker cabinet. Hammond, VoxContinental Mk II, Farfisa VIP, Yamaha YC-20 organs on “Tone Räder”, and Hammond Vox and piano on “Tremulant”). “Rain In Space” lyrics written and performed by Claire Wheelahan. Rain In Space, was recorded in the winter of 2024 by Paul Maybury at A Secret Location Sound Recorders in Fairfield, Naarm, Victoria, Australia. The band was recorded all together, live in the one room. Headphones were not required. Recording was done with a selection of vintage dynamic, condenser and ribbon mics, through transformer balanced discrete mic pre-amps and equalizers, direct to 16 track 2″ tape. No compression was used in the recording (apart from the tape saturation, of course!). Minimal overdubs were recorded to a digital workstation, utilising the tape machine’s electronics. Mixing was performed on an analogue mixing console, using vintage outboard equipment, such as ADR Compex, Allison Research and other dynamics processors, EMT 140 plate, Master Room spring and Yamaha reverb units, along with an Ursa Major Space Station delay.
Mastered by Casey Rice in Castlemaine, Victoria, Australia.
