Simon and Sönke have been doing music together for over 25 years now, first in Pink Stainless Tail and then in Ekranoplans. In 2025 they decided to go acoustic and take their music in a bold new folk-inspired direction. Following on from an explosive show in Berlin they recorded their debut acoustic album featuring one side of old PST tunes and another of tunes inspired by Simon’s recent widely-acclaimed experimental novel. Then their old pal Dave Graney wrote them some sleeve notes. This is that thing. Cheers.
Born in Sheffield, UK in the 1960s. Worked in AI research and related professions like bookselling and toilet cleaning. Published first experimental novel in 1995. Moved suddenly to Australia in 1996. Wrote more books. Front man for Pink Stainless Tail (group) since 2001 and Ekranoplans since 2017. Has also made several unpopular experimental films.
