Melbourne/Naarm quartet Public Figures have only been together for a tad over a year but have really made a splash, with shows supporting the likes of Shannon and The Clams, Magic Dirt and Gut Health – and, almost – the insanely packed (and ultimately cancelled) support slot for Amyl and The Sniffers at Fed Square late last year [Public Figures played; Amyl had to cancel]. The uncompromising project of longtime collaborators Evie Vlah and Gigi Agiro (both from The Sunfruits), Public Figures are punk with purpose, with songs that swing between identity, power and resistance with explosive honesty.
